Pantex and Metal Trades background
The Pantex Ordnance Plant began operations in 1942 to support World War II production and later became a central facility in the nation’s nuclear weapons complex. Pantex continues to support stockpile safety, security, reliability, life-extension, dismantlement, surveillance, and other national-security missions.
The Metal Trades Department and Metal Trades Council structure provides coordinated representation among unions whose members work in metal trades and related covered work.
